The Tornadoes might be in Texas but that doesn’t mean we’re not going to have you completely covered with all the information you could possibly want about their trip. Here’s our game notes for their first series of the trip against the Laredo Lemurs with a few things to check out below:
1. Just like GrandPrairie, the Lemurs hail from the American Association and play in Texas and they have some interesting history. The Lemurs weren’t even a team last season because the Laredo Broncos (Jose Canseco’s former team back in 2010) played there as part of another league. The Lemurs have two interesting connections to the big leagues and have one of the most famous managers in all of independent league ball.
2. If you’ve followed the Tornadoes at all over the past two weeks you’d know that Alex Trezza and Nick Salotti have been hot, but we sifted through the past 15 box scores and the numbers are pretty staggering. Just check out the team leaders and you’ll find Nick Salotti in some spots you wouldn’t neccessarily expect him to be in.
3. The Tornadoes starters have turned things around in a big way. After a slow start to the season, the starting five have been excellent over the past 10 games despite Worcester’s 4-6 record. Check out page 10 to see a comparison of just how much better Tornadoes starters have been then their opponents-it’s pretty impressive.
